Serving the Island City
Plainwell, “the Island City,” sits on the Kalamazoo River just north of Kalamazoo County, up US-131 in Allegan County. It has a historic downtown on the river, older homes on the streets around it, and newer neighborhoods and farmland on the edges of town toward Otsego and Martin. We bring the same organic general pest, termite and wildlife services north from our Portage base.
Fall invaders: stink bugs, boxelder bugs and lady beetles
Plainwell homes on sunny lots, especially ones near maples and boxelder trees, get hit hard every September and October. Brown marmorated stink bugs, boxelder bugs, multicolored Asian lady beetles and cluster flies gather on warm south and west walls, then crawl under siding and into wall voids to spend the winter. On the first warm day in February, they wander out into your living room.
The fix is timing. Our fall visit treats the outside of the house before they get in, and our winter visit knocks down the ones already inside. Both are part of our general pest control plans. More on our stink bug and boxelder bug page.
Plans and pricing
Every plan covers inside and outside, insects and rodents, and starts with a $165 initial visit:
- Organic Gold: $96.25 a visit, 12 visits a year (monthly), unlimited free service calls
- Organic Silver: $99.25 a visit, 7 visits a year, 2 free service calls
- Organic Bronze: $112.93 a visit, 5 visits a year (quarterly), 1 free service call. Best for long-term maintenance rather than an active problem.
No contract. Our plans are pay-as-you-go, and you can cancel anytime. A $50 cancellation fee applies.
Scheduling: on every plan, the first two visits are two weeks apart.
Mice in older river-town homes
Older foundations, fieldstone basements and gaps around old utility lines let mice in, and the river and fields give them plenty of places to live nearby. Every plan includes rodent treatment, with extra attention in fall and winter. See mouse and rat control.
Bed bugs
Bed bugs travel in luggage, used furniture and between apartments, and small towns get them too. Our organic bed bug treatment uses APPREHEND fungal spores. The initial visit is $425-$625, the two-week follow-up is $99, and you get a three-month re-treat guarantee (extendable for $425).

Frequently asked questions
Do you charge extra to come out to Plainwell?
No. There’s no extra travel charge anywhere in our service area, including our farther towns.
How can I pay?
We accept all common payment methods.
When should I call about stink bugs?
Late August through September, before they get into the walls. Once they’re inside, the winter visit helps, but prevention works better.
Do stink bugs or boxelder bugs damage the house?
They don’t eat wood or bite people, but they stain surfaces, smell when crushed, and come back in large numbers year after year.
Do you do real estate inspections in Plainwell?
Yes. Call with the property address and closing date to book.
How do I get a quote?
Call us. Phone and email consultations are always free. An on-site evaluation is $150.
